  1. On Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the captain speaking. . . :

    posted 3 months ago

    Welcome to ficlets.

This has a nice feel and flow to it. I can imagine sitting in the plane hearing this, and wondering why Carl was being such a tool.

  2. On Boogeyman:

    posted 3 months ago

Yeah, this one really offers the creepiness effect after the twist.
I still can’t decide what’s worse, keeping the teeth in Ziploc bags, or keeping them stored in a file cabinet.

Does he plan on going back there, or is he just afraid of the monsters that will “come out” if the light is not left on?

  3. On First contact.:

    posted 3 months ago

Nice one. Is this the true beginning of SkyNet?

  4. On Fail.:

    posted 3 months ago

To avoid confusion, I liked it!!

  5. On Fail.:

    posted 3 months ago

The imagery that you paint with your ficlet, is as bleary as the picture that inspired it.

  6. On Top Gangsta - (Gangsta Challenge):

    posted 3 months ago

Figured I’d veer away from the stereo-typlical “Gangsta” (Laine P. Grey makes a good point)

Also inspired by a line from Ice-T’s ‘Message to the soldiers’:
“Take notes: real gangstas wear trench coats
Grey suits black ties and they seek votes . .”

  7. On A Memory, a Mommy, and a Moment Missed (by both VideogameBoy and Elsha together):

    posted 3 months ago

I’d like to see a sequel as well. This perfectly captures a 5 year old’s priorities. Nice job.

  8. On Werk Jerk - probably doesn't even like himself:

    posted 3 months ago

I know right! The worst part is, he’s not even drunk. Thats when he gets mean . .

  9. On Limerick Challenge [=:

    posted 4 months ago

    Sounds like fun!!

  10. On I still held her hand:

    posted 4 months ago

Thanks for all of the comments. They are really appreciated!

I think I now addressed what was wrong with his mother, as well as the weak simile that I had chosen (didn’t think I would get called out on it, although now I’m not so sure about my use of commas in the ‘eternal minute’ sentence)

    Thanks.

  11. On The Third Guy:

    posted 4 months ago

Nevermind my previous question, I saw the tag :)

  12. On The Third Guy:

    posted 4 months ago

I like where this is going! Did you envision this third guy as an assasin, or maybe someone that works for a three letter agency?

  13. On The Other Guy:

    posted 4 months ago

Thanks for the kind words everyone. OrangeOreo, I’ll be sure to check out your sequel.

  14. On The Last War [50th Ficlet Challenge]:

    posted 4 months ago

Nice entry. Brought me back :)

  16. On My Mother's Likeness (His Only Escape):

    posted 4 months ago

This is really good! I like the way the story flowed.

  17. On Intergalactic Spring Cleaning: It's Party Time:

    posted 11 months ago

Good point. However, the Baalzars had started to become apathetic. Most had lost the drive and spirit that their forefathers had. The vast knowledge, and their memories of the past, although stored in triple parity redundancy, had started to deteriorate over the eons. It’s sad but true.

  18. On Algai 'D' Aman: A Philosophical Exploration of the Pen Name That I have learned to live with:

That was a fun challenge. Thanks!

  20. On Watch the World Burn (Min. Length Challenge):

    posted about 1 year ago

Makes me wonder. If it were his world, as in something he cherished, would he have a wry grin as he set it on fire? I think there’s something else going on here.

  21. On 64 Characters:

    posted about 1 year ago

HA! OK OK That was a freaking awesome display of the 64 character limit.

BTW, (and don’t tell anyone ;) Even after having read your profile before making the ‘Stumped’ comment, and having visited the site, I had it set in my mind that your title was ‘Lord of Awesomeness’ hence LoA, not even stopping to think about what LoA really meant.

But it looks like you proved me wrong, and no, it looks like the LoA can indeed not be stumped lol

  22. On Exact minimum length ficlet [And the winner is . .]:

    posted about 1 year ago

Yep. Stumped. Stumped seemed like a good word at the time, not too arrogant of a word, yet prickly enough to make someone . . uncomfortable :-)

  23. On Limits of Immortality:

    posted about 1 year ago

    Welcome back!
I really enjoyed this dialog. Seems that even immortals remember their lessons.

  27. On Future Field Trip With Billy Jo Bud To The Genetic Mutation Farm{64 Character Challenge}:

    posted about 1 year ago

Nice touch with the title. I laughed when I imagined the weird looks on the kids faces as they heard that.

  28. On Exact minimum length ficlet [And the winner is . .]:

    posted about 1 year ago

Hey, you don’t want me to be the guy that stumped the LoA do you?

  46. On Are you a Human or an Ant?(Then again, what's the difference?):

    posted about 1 year ago

    Nice!
Reminds me of Proverbs 6:6 :

You lazy fool, look at an ant.
    Watch it closely;
let it teach you a thing or two.
Nobody has to tell it what to do.
    All summer it stores up food;
    at harvest it stockpiles provisions.

  47. On Where to go. What to do.:
