Pfft…people managed to live for thousands of years in remote Oceania without any of the conveniences of today. I’m sure they could survive juuust fine.
Well, if you were talking about if you were an actual whore…I don’t think Jack the Ripper would be the safest bet if you wanted to live to whore another day…
I think it’d be awesome if you became a mechanic. There are actually two book series I’m reading right now about women mechanics: one by C.E. Murphy and one by Patricia Briggs. Don’t limit yourself! And btw, I totally own every guy (and girl) I know at video games…
Wow, that hurts the human and the anthropologist in me (for some reason, I feel like the two are separate). I particularly liked this ficlet. I feel that it very strongly conveyed the ugly arrogance that was so indicative of 19th century white society.
If Greg Oden looks like he’s in his early 20s then I suppose that would be accurate. But don’t worry, I won’t hold your pedomorphic taste in music against you.
The format made it a little difficult to read, but overall I really liked where you went with this; the struggle of the mother’s to please her son despite a lack of money and the kindness of a stranger.
BBCA has been attracting my attention more and more lately as quality American television is disappearing under a mudslide of crap. In any case, a very well-done little ficlet that maintains the feeling of the original while adding a bit of whimsy.
Howie – Omg. That’s fantastic. YW – An atl atl is a spear thrower used in hunting that dates back to the Paleolithic. MBTM – Nope. There are no e’s. It’s either spelled atl atl or atlatl depending on who is doing the spelling.
Hm. I like the prompt, and think that the story has promise, but something is lost in the method of delivery. Maybe it’s just my personal preference though.
Haha…I wrote a zombie ficlet awhile back and never ended up doing anything with it. We should have our characters meet up and have an apocalypse party.
I prefer this ending over the other. I think it’s better to go subtle and realistic with the romance as opposed to pure sugar. But then again, writing romance scares me…
Crewman Thirteen first appeared in “The Coup of Crewman Thirteen” and Virgil (aka Sweet) first appeared in THX 0477’s “Tell Me a Story About Marshmallows”.
Yeah, I still have nightmares that I’m summoned back across the country to participate in a marching band show I’ve never learned. It’s absolutely sick.
Well, it wasn’t really supposed to be a statement on punishment in the afterlife. I just use the title quote a lot in real life, so I thought…well…what if it was?
I Wear My Sunglasses at Night – Corey Hart Don’t Stop Believing – Journey Private Idaho – The B-52s Goody Two-Shoes – Adam Ant Enjoy the Silence – Depeche Mode Safety Dance – Men Without Hats That’s What Friends Are For – Dionne Warwick Dancing With Myself – Billy Idol You Spin Me Round – Dead or Alive Let’s Dance – David Bowie Thriller – Michael Jackson
