  1. On Prescription For A Pope:

Very well written. Quite descriptive without really describing anything. The real question is, mas Medical Science really moved on that much?

  2. On To Serve Droid:

    posted 3 months ago

I am slightly ashamed to say that I hadn’t even noticed someone had written a sequel to my original story. Now I have discovered it, I have to say I love it – save for the change from present to past tense it continues the story wonderfully. Superb!

  3. On A Moment with a Hero:

    posted 3 months ago

On the subject of Poe smiling: His melancholy state was a result of his wife dying of tuberculosis two years after they were wed. Makes sense to me that if he’s died and he gets to spend an eternity with her again, he’d be all smiles again. If Heaven does indeed exist, he’s probably up there writing soppy romance novels.

But anyway: Thanks for the praise. :)

  4. On Substitute:

    posted 3 months ago

    I like it. Well-written.

  5. On A Clear and Concise Answer:

  8. On Desperate For Attention:

An ad for the self-checkout tills if I ever saw one. Great stuff – it’s very easy to visualise this scenario.

  9. On It's All Your Fault:

    A wonderfully-written, very touching tribute.

  10. On Waiting for the Right Moment:

  11. On A Little Late:

    posted 4 months ago

    Beautiful.

  12. On That Was Then:

    posted 4 months ago

All kinds of ideas pop into my mind. Is this person dead? Or slightly mad? Does this person live in a stain glass window, or a painting? Is this person real?

I love how this ficlet has let my mind run away with itself. Magnificent.

  13. On Not Really A Ficlet--More Like A Message to Readers:

    posted 4 months ago

No, I don’t think I will comment. At all.

Oh, wait. Buggered that one up, haven’t it?

  14. On Down the Hatch:

    posted 4 months ago

Oh no! You’ve walked into the slathering fangs of a lurking Polar Bear! You’d better start from the beginning again.

  18. On Five Things: Like a Dream Upon Waking:

    posted 5 months ago

...and it’s up to you to decide what the remaining four things are. If we can get a little chain going, I’ll be happy. :)

  19. On The Package (Ben Paddon's Mundane Moments Made Magnificent Challenge):

    posted 5 months ago

Whoever said “Flattery won’t get you everywhere” obviously wasn’t being told the right things. :)

    NOOO!!!!

    Ahem.

    Very good stuff. :)

  23. On Special Delivery:

    posted 5 months ago

Ah, it appears that the “ficlet code” has broken the last line. Disappointing!

  24. On Terrible Fanfiction Generator: "A Knight Rider in King Arthur's Court":

    This is delicious.

  25. On The Insurgenceez Haz Beginned:

I love it. It’s well written, and it’s something that everyone has done at least once. Great stuff.

  27. On Dollar Value:

    posted 5 months ago

Hmm, perhaps it would be better to say that this is _semi-_autobiographical.

  28. On Interstellar Tesla:

    posted 5 months ago

    Supoib stuff.

  29. On Poe and Holmes: Locked Up:

  34. On Before the Showdown:

    posted 5 months ago

    Superb stuff.

  35. On A New & Improved 5 things I've Never Told Anyone, with a few touch-ups:

    posted 5 months ago

As much as I would love to contribute with five things I’ve never told anyone, the reason I haven’t told anyone my five things is largely because I can’t. I love the idea, though.

  36. On Writer's Block:

    posted 5 months ago

I think I’ve had this conversation with myself a hundred thousand times. It’s actually what led me to write my ficlet “The Cleverest Thing Anyone Has Ever Written”. I like this, though. This is a nice twist on the “writing about being unable to write” idea. I like it.

  37. On Remember?:

    posted 5 months ago

I can relate to the first two points, and the last one. That third one seems a little drastic, though. Not bad, this.

  38. On Transplant Baby:

    posted 5 months ago

Save for the grammar, which could use some work, this is a good ficlet. It’s an interesting concept, and one I’d love to see explored further.

  39. On Twain, Poe and Telsa: At War With the Emperor:

    posted 5 months ago

This is like mid-80s Doctor Who, but I love it anyway.

  40. On A Painting of a Girl:

    posted 6 months ago

    This is marvelous stuff.

  41. On The Lost Of Two:

    posted 6 months ago

It’s a good story, but the construction isn’t fantastic.

  42. On The YodaOnCrack Rap Song:

    posted 6 months ago

I started writing a follow-up to my rap a few days ago ands just finished it today. Those that hate themselves enough are welcome to read it and despair, in that order.

  46. On Questions for Answers:

    Isn’t this Fergie’s new single?

  48. On Redefinition of "Ever":

Ooh, you big git. I had this idea earlier today and was going to write it up tomorrow! Nice job, though.

  50. On [YodaOnCrack's Rap Challenge] An Unexceptional Nom de Plume:

    posted 6 months ago

Yep! It’s perhaps a bit of an in-joke, though. I prefer to use my proper name in most cases.

  51. On [YodaOnCrack's Rap Challenge] An Unexceptional Nom de Plume:

    posted 6 months ago

My apologies to the people reading this.

  52. On Am I Going Nuts?:

    posted 6 months ago

Re: White Hat – I wouldn’t know. My exposure to They Might Be Giants is limited to “Birdhouse in your Soul” and “Experimental Film” (specifically the rather excellent covers by the chap from Songs To Wear Pants To).

  53. On Recursion:

    posted 6 months ago

    Well, it made me laugh…

  54. On A Brief Discovery:

    posted 6 months ago

Yesterday evening, we were about to head out to see The Golden Compass. Then I realised, “Bugger, I haven’t written a ficlet yet!”

Knowing that it would be tomorrow by the time I got back, I decided to write something exceptionally brief. This is it. It’s by no means grand but it does the trick… sort of a Ficlet-let.

  55. On Biography of a Captive:

    posted 7 months ago

Magnificent! Wonderfully written. I’m starting to feel really sorry for this poor gentleman I have helped to create.

  56. On Loved that Losing Feeling:

    posted 7 months ago

My heart needed thawing out this morning, and this story has done the job more than aptly. :)

  57. On Acrylic Bars:

    posted 7 months ago

This is largely an experiment in writing a story using future tense – I’d be very keen to hear any feedback you have about the story.

  58. On One True Edge:

    posted 7 months ago

    Delicious.

  59. On In case of emergency:

  60. On In case of emergency:

    posted 7 months ago

Hmm, thought I’d rated it in my last comment. Well, here’s a rating. It’s well deserved.

  61. On The Master of Games:

    Ooh, sublime!

  62. On In case of emergency:

    posted 7 months ago

Beautifully written, very vivid. I love it!

  63. On Ought Seven: 07.C.01.07.3A:

    posted 7 months ago

    Very enjoyable!

  64. On An Unexpected Implication:

    posted 7 months ago

This ficlet is largely at the request of the people who enjoyed reading “An Undesirable Happenstance.” Generally, I’m not a big fan of writing sequels/prequels to my own work, but I figured maybe some additional information about their situation might encourage others to try and build more around the events that led to Brian and Clive’s unfortunate predicament.

  65. On To Serve Man:

    posted 7 months ago

Whoops, didn’t mean to rate my own story…!

  66. On To Serve Man:

    posted 7 months ago

Just ignore Blondie Babe, she has something of a vendetta against me because I said her magnum opus, the brilliantly written and superbly plotted “hi”, was not a good ficlet.

  67. On One Little Push:

    posted 7 months ago

Ah, what kid in school hasn’t thought about knocking down the school bully, eh? Well-written and very enjoyable.

  70. On The outcome of divorce part two:

    posted 7 months ago

    This is, in fact, dire.

  71. On Later, In The Common Room At Ten Faeries' Den Hostel:

    posted 7 months ago

Some very strong language here, which surprisingly works well – the juxtaposition with my original story is fantastic. I love it!

  72. On The upstairs bedroom:

    posted 7 months ago

    Very imaginative.

  73. On Chasing a Dream:

    posted 7 months ago

Very nicely layered. I love the way this builds up.

  74. On Automaton and on and on......:

    posted 7 months ago

This is, of course, well-written, thought-provoking stuff.

  75. On The Shed:

    posted 7 months ago

Very enjoyable – I love the way you’ve built up the suspense here, and the ending is wonderfully vague and chilling.

  76. On Five Minutes Ago:

    posted 7 months ago

Very well written. Borderline-genius, in fact. The genius side of the borderline, natch.

  77. On Hurting:

    posted 7 months ago

I like it – it’s a nice, well-written “scribble from the heart” (as I tend to call them) which is something I can relate to.

  78. On The Pros and Cons of Online Purchasing:

    posted 7 months ago

Marvelous. I hadn’t even thought of how Dave might’ve bit the bullet, and this adds a wonderfully delicious and unexpected twist on the entire thing. Nicely written and well realised. :)

  79. On An Undesirable Happenstance:

    posted 7 months ago

Thanks, I’ll keep that in mind. :)
