    Thanks, thebetweenspace. It’s good to be back, though it might be a bit sporadic for a bit. I’m working 60+ hour weeks right now, and it plays havoc with my creativity. I actually was inspired to write this story while watching “The Crow”. Probably a good thing the inspiration hit today instead of yesterday, when I watched “House of 1,000 Corpses” and “The Devil’s Rejects” (both excellent movies if you like horror flicks). :)

    I think I’m going to have to agree with Kevin on this one. While it’s not exactly Hemingway (subject matter aside, it’s more along the lines of something I would have written in elementary school), it does make a point. It takes a bully, turns the tables on them, and shows them the error of their ways.
    My only two problems with it (other than formatting): no reason to link it to THX’s story, and the last line is really pretty pointless.

    Ficlets is giving me a lot of practise writing stories in the ‘weird fiction’ style of the great Howard Phillips Lovecraft. If you’re never read any of Lovecraft’s works, you really should. He was an amazing author, and there’s a huge number of authors who continue working on the Cthulhu Mythos under the group Diver’s Hands (including such famous authors as Stephen King).

    Agreed. If I may, could I ask that people hold off on posting stories for this challenge, please. Just until we hear from Kev as to whether or not this is okay. Like I said, I don’t see a problem, as I believe this falls under Fair Use. But, at the same time, I don’t want to cause any problems for my favourite site. If necessary, I do have a backup challenge in mind.

    The thing I find amazing is that I had no plan what so ever when I started writing that series. I’m very much a stream of consciousness writer. Which drove my creative writing teachers in high school completely nuts!

    As someone who firmly believes that, yes, they do exist, I love this story! This is just wonderful! And it’s so true. Most people don’t bother thinking about dragons, except maybe us followers of pagan paths or people from Asian cultures. (My in-laws are Filipino Catholics, and they didn’t bat an eye when I talked to them about our guardian dragons.)
