Ficlets is getting a new brain! Because you guys are so prolific (over 9,000 stories and 11,000 comments), we’ve filled up our current database (well, not really, we were really just “borrowing” it). Some time tomorrow (September 13th), the friendly guys in our operations group will be moving us to a fancy new database machine, which means they need to take the site down for about thirty minutes. I’m not exactly sure when this will happen, but I’ll update this post when I know for sure, and when it’s all done.
Update: I just talked to Michael the DBA and we’re on for 1:00PM EST today. It should take no more than 45 minutes. So… cross your fingers, say a little prayer to whatever god you worship (mine comes in a 12oz. can and has lots of caffeine in it) and check back in around 2.
Update again: We’re all done! There was a minor hiccup about halfway through, so it may have looked like some stories were missing, but our intrepid ops guys fixed that, and everything’s good. Is it just me, or do things feel a little snappier?
