Challenges: Too Sick to Fic

I’ve been struck down by the nuclear rhinovirus that’s been making the rounds, which is why the blog’s been more quiet than usual this week. I’m still sick, but I can’t leave you guys hanging any longer, so here’s the latest batch of challenges. This should get you through the weekend while I subsist on herbal tea, seltzer, dayquil and soup.

Criss Cross Applesauce – You have to use other ficleteers’ characters and build a story. Check it out. This one truly falls under challenge.
Hidden Messages – You have to hide a message in your ficlet. This is a good one for all you closet cryptographers out there.
A Dark and Stormy Night – Great, a Snoopy challenge! You have to start your ficlet with one of Snoopy’s famous opening lines. This is a good one.

I’m going back to bed. If anyone needs me, too bad. I’ll be in bed watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the laptop with my tea and kleenex.

Had to laugh when I saw this title. Fic or Fick in German slang translates to the almost identically spelled English version.

Sending get well wishes, and hoping the nuclear virus doesn’t find a way to mutate and make its way through an internet connection. :0 I think this year’s has become a complete pandemic. It has made MULTIPLE rounds in our neck of the woods; our home has FINALLY made a full week without any episodes whatsoever (knock on wood.)

I thought I was sick yesterday. But then I remembered that I was around a cat all day and I amm allergic to cats. So lucky for me, but that doesn’t help you. Fell better Kevin! Being sick sucks! Just imagine how many ficlets you will want to write when you come back!

Just so you know, it wasn’t exactly Snoopy. Snoopy was plagiarizing Bulwer-Lytton:
