Going Home, To Space, On Melrose

Here’s a nice bit of autobiography and self-observation from Wil Wheaton, the-once-teen-star-now-adult-geek who documents himself visiting the sound stage he used to trod when the set of Star Trek: The Next Generation was on it. The piece is called The Long Goodbye.

For those of you who have been out of the loop on Wil Wheaton since his Star Trek days, this should be interesting stuff: Wil is one of those rare folks who is actually having a second act to his life, with the second act being rather more interesting than the first. As you’ll see when you read the piece and discover how it is that the security guard at Paramount knows him. I got a big smile on my face when I read it.

(Note: Link takes you to Wil Wheaton’s article on the Suicide Girls site. The article itself is safe for work, the rest of the Suicide Girls site, somewhat less so.)

I have tons of respect for that guy. He actually has an account here on Ficlets, but hasn’t written anything. I’m an old TNG die-hard fan, and it’s cool to see that Wil (unlike most of the rest of the cast) is able to make a life for himself beyond the show. Though I’m sure most will always think of him as Wesley.

Word of warning: that link should probably be marked NSFW ; SuicideGirls is a pretty notorious site. Lots of good content on there, but also some stuff we might not want to link to considering all the kids here on Ficlets.

Good point; I’ll add a note.
