Inspiration: Yes, This Constitutes As Going For the Low-Hanging Fruit...

... but on the other hand it really is too good to pass up for potential Ficlets:

An aggressive squirrel attacked and injured three people in a German town before a 72-year-old pensioner dispatched the rampaging animal with his crutch.

The squirrel first ran into a house in the southern town of Passau, leapt from behind on a 70-year-old woman, and sank its teeth into her hand, a local police spokesman said Thursday.

With the squirrel still hanging from her hand, the woman ran onto the street in panic, where she managed to shake it off.

Why did the squirrel do it? Well, why do squirrels do anything? It’s not like they’re really little furry humans or anything (note: profanity at that link). But if you want to give the squirrel some motivation in your Ficlet, I won’t mind.

Another source of inspiration is spam. Seriously. I got one today titled “subsist humus inoperable,” which immediately set off a train of thought about how long humanity could subsist if the earth’s humus (the organic dirt layer that enables everything on the planet to grow) were to become inoperable (probably sterilized due to some bio-warfare attack gone awry or something).

Not long, I’m thinking, unless they could restart the process of decay from scratch. Big thoughts for pre-caffeine hours of the morning.
