The Nebula Awards, 2007 Edition

Considering that I am a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America – and indeed I ran for the position of president of said organization this year (I didn’t win) – I would be remiss if I did not note that last Saturday SFWA presented its annual Nebula Awards, for excellence in science fiction. Here are the winners:

Novel: Seeker, by Jack McDevitt

Novella: “Burn,” by James Patrick Kelly

Novelette: “Two Hearts,” by Peter S. Beagle

Short Story: “Echo,” by Elizabeth Hand

Script: Howl’s Moving Castle, by Hayao Miyazaki, Cindy Davis Hewitt, and Donald H. Hewitt

Andre Norton Award (for Young Adult novels): Magic or Madness, by Justine Larbalestier

I’m particularly pleased at Larbalestier’s Norton win; she’s a good pal of mine.

There’s more coverage of this at Galleycat (from whom I stole the picture above, of Nebula winner James Patrick Kelly getting all lolcat on ya). Congratulations to all the winners!

Oh good heavens, must we reference lolcats on Ficlets? This internet thing has officially jumped the shark.

In other news, sounds like an exciting occasion and congrats to the winners all around. I wasn’t even aware there were awards like this for sci-fi/fantasy writers. Cool.
