Comments on 'Bullets and Death'

The first officer turned back towards the doorway, Simon's voice from the hall shocking him into action. The second officer, frightened and anxious, squeezed on the trigger of his gun. Blake's bullet-ridden body fell to the ground, blood gushing from the various holes. "Damn," Blake gasped, as life slipped out of his shell.

"BLAKE!" Simon screamed from the hallway, tears dripping down his face. They had barely known each other, and yet — in many ways — Blake had been his best friend, his closest ally.

"Containment! Containment!" shouted the Man In Black, as jolted by these events as the officers. And, as Simon could see in the man's eyes, scared of what might happen next. _And_, Simon thought, _he should be._

Simon sniffled, trying to dry his eyes. "Blake once killed an archangel with his bare hands," he said. Simon could feel a fire burning deep in him, begging to escape. "And he had no where near the _frakkin_ power I do." Simon's eyes exploded into balls of fire. "You're all going to _gorram_ pay now."

Oh, and before anyone mentions that Simon seems to have gotten a power jump here, my intention is that Simon’s basically just tapped into the “dark side.” He’s relented control of the magics that flow thru his body and merely become a conduit for wild magical forces. Not the kind of thing an experienced magician would let happen, but Simon is young and under a bit of stress here.

Sorry to do two in a row again, but if anyone was going to kill Blake, it was me. But is he really dead? Perhaps some perceptive reader might realize a way out that was mentioned in the first ficlet serial of Simon & Blake. Hmmm…

(And if anyone even thinks of just having Simon resurrect him, I’m… well… there’s really nothing I can do, but I won’t be pleased.)
