"Honestly, we're out of gas!" I said, raising my eyebrows.
"So," she said (I could tell she thought I was lying), "what do we do now?"
I rolled my eyes and we got out of the car. It was only a few minutes later until she apologized for not believing me.
I grew uncomfortable as soon as she spoke and knew it was going to burst out. "...Can I ask you something?" I said.
"What?"
Here it went. "You know I like you, don't you?"
She smiled sheepishly. "Yes," she breathed.
"And...I hope you like me...the way I like you." Was it going to work?
"Yes."
Oh, man! "I was wondering if...you would be my girl."
"Oh, Michael." I shuddered with glee at how gently she said it.
I grinned and gave her my ring. _Now_ it was official. But...that also meant one secret had to lead to the next.
