Comments on 'A Winter Flight '

She leaned back into the seat as the plane titled upward. There was a rush as the engines gave their final push and suddenly, they were airborne.

"Ladies and Gentlemen thank you for flying with us. Flight attendents will be through the cabin shortly with beverages and snacks." The pilot intoned.

Thoughts of him fluttered back to her again.

_Don't think about him_

Of course her inner contrarian did not allow it. The more something hurt, the more the voices in her head insisted on thinking about it. It seemed her spirit was made to indulge in misery. When would she stop missing him?

Just as her eyes began to tear. She looked out the window. Below the city glistened and sparkled. The dazzling lights spread out toward the horizon, speaking of opportunity. Above, the stars twinkled closer, brighter and more numerous than she had ever seen.Suddenly one of them streaked across the sky. She closed her eyes and made a wish. And for the first time in a long while she did not wish for him.
