Hermit is an extreme word I think. Because, when I thought about it, I knew exactly who was knocking on my door. I would have liked to knock his head against a steel bat, but I guess you can't have everything. My arm was burning. I could always shoot him through the door, but I didn't want to make him mad. That wouldn't be good. I stayed alive because I was cautious and reclusive. It would be just my luck to tick off one of the most powerful vampires in the business. I inched towards the door, feeling like a coward, but really not caring. Better cowardly than dead, as I always said. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath and wrapped my hand around the doorknob.
