  <title>Comments on 'On Change'</title>
<subtitle>The one thing I know for certain
is that tomorrow you will wake up different,
changed in the night, perhaps,
by a vivid dream in the wild darkness,
or the sound of rain and thunder
against the roof.

For now, we laugh here together,
as darkness descends on us
and the rain plays sad songs upon our window panes,
connected by a common thread
that tugs our souls together,
no matter how hard I&#8217;ve tried to shake you.

I know as well as anybody
that the only thing definitively brought by time
is change.
But the truth is, if I could capture your smile
and put it in my pocket,
I would,
to take out and gaze at
when the world gets a little too serious</subtitle>
