School was over, and I was back with Melody in the lab. Drops of sweat started to form on my forehead as I stood in the hot, stuffy room. There were no windows down there, and yet Melody had on her bright blue hoodie and was rushing about pouring liquids, measuring, and jotting down notes.
"So is that what all this is?" I asked. "Alchemy?"
"Precisely," she answered.
"Why?"
She came over and had me sit down at a small, round table. She grabbed a book and handed it to me. _Secrets of the Alchemists_
"Okay, remember those stones I showed you?"
"Yes," I replied.
"Do you _really_ believe in what they are?"
"_Yes_, I believe you. They're pieces of the Philosopher's Stone."
"Good. Now, I'm kinda in some trouble, Leo."
"What kind of trouble?"
"I think someone's going to try and steal them."
"That's not good is it?"
