One of my favorite reads is called Anguished English: An Anthology of Accidental Assaults Upon Our Language; a compilation of reports, essay, research papers, etc. turned in by students of all ages. Did you ever hear of or read the book “Eats, Shoots and Leaves”? It’s all about this kind of stuff.
