Comments on 'Macy 62: Derrick's Parents'

“Mom, dad this is Macy.” Derrick told his parents as they stood in the doorway of his house. It was so small they moved into the dining room to shake hands with Macy.

“Thanks for having me over Mr. & Mrs.Rubens.” Macy said.

"Any girl Derrick tells about that is an Gram is welcome.” Mr. Rubens said. Obviously, he knew about Macy’s dad’s massive companies around the world. But Macy didn’t want to bring up her dad as they sat down at the table.

“So Macy, Derrick tells about your artwork. I’ve seen some in the galley downtown and it’s amazing.” Mrs. Rubens told them, starting a conversation.

“Well I don’t like to brag.” Macy said just like they do in movies.

Derrick just smiled and the whole dinner seemed so fake. It was almost like everyone was putting on their good faces to impress each other. Well who hasn’t faked something?

This dinner was thankfully calm. Macy wasn’t so sure hers was going to turn out the same way, but she pushed those thoughts away, along with her thoughts of Macon.
