“You’re sorry? What the fuck!? Sorry? Those assholes fucking kidnapped me!” she screamed; face beet red, the color of a poor ginger kid who was left in the sun for too long. Tears flew from her eyes as if there were a bomb scare in her ocular glands. “What… what have you done…” her fists fell limply upon my chest as she collapsed into my arms.

“I really thought it would be different this time. They’ve unionized and everything.”

“Unionized? And that makes it better? Have you ever seen a Scorsese movie? How is that better?” Her tears bled through my shirt; her pain dripping down my chest.

“Well, it does get worse. BioWeps wants me to go to work for them. And they’ve threatened Nick if I don’t.” She pushed me back with such sudden force, that I stumbled back until the wall saved my fall. “I had no idea this would… or could happen.”

“You fix this NOW! Until then I’m taking Nick and we’re going to my parent’s.” She grabbed her Cosmo and walked upstairs. “Phil. I can’t go through that again. I just can’t."

It feels just right to move Angela and Nick to the in-laws for now, maybe to appear later?

Angela’s reaction feels very real and Phil seems quite genuine as well.

I thought telling Angela was the most difficult part of the story up until this point, so it took me two ficlets to do. And I still had to cut it shorter than I wanted. I suppose Phil could follow her up the stairs or something, but that’s for you guys to decide.
I think the humor that you guys have been infusing is great, and I felt it would be easier to do if we removed the familial threat, but that’s what collaborations are for.
