Comments on 'Yesterday Is Full Of Questions'

Jess dropped the open phone in the passenger seat and slammed violently on the brakes, jolting her head forward. She put her head on the steering wheel and began to cry. It wasn’t until the fire truck blew by a few minutes later that she finally collected herself and picked the phone back up. “Hello?”

“I’m still here Jessica. And you're still in danger; you need to get to the train station.” The man’s voice was calm and soothing. “Jessica, you have to get moving.”

“How did you know I was going to the cops?” She wiped snot from her nose and sat up a little straighter. “That’s impossible for you to know.”

“We know everything you do Jess. We spend a lot of time doing background checks on all of our hosts,” the calmness gave way to irritation. “And before the jumpers leave the host, they put a beacon in your temporal lobe.”

“You’re in my head?” Jess screamed. “What the hell? Why? Why me? Who are you people?”

“I promise that all of your questions will be answered in time, now please get to the train station.”

@THX, the calmness was originally intended to contradict the voice’s frantic tone during the first call. The dialog was also longer where it tried to calm Jessica down. The whole thing feels sloppy to me. I need to take a break from writing this for a few days until I figure out where I’m going.
Thank you both for the kind comments though. I appreciate the feedback knowing that people out there are actually reading, and somewhat enjoying, this.

I thought it worked nicely, fair amount of new details mixed with just enough action to move things along. The calmness of the voice is a creepy touch somehow.
