Susan glared down at her with cold eyes. &amp;quot;No, Katie-bear. I'm sorry, but no...&amp;quot; She placed her hands around Kate's neck and tightly squeezed until her frail body went limp in the ambulance stretcher.

The EMT staff pulled Susan away and brought in the portable defibrillator. They shocked Kate repeatedly, but she didn't budge.

&amp;quot;We lost her,&amp;quot; one of the EMTs said as Susan screamed in the background.

&amp;quot;She said she loved me! We were going to get married! Why did she have to lie to me?! Why wouldn't she love me?! Why wouldn't she love me?! Why?!&amp;quot;</subtitle>

Wound up a bit quick on the shift from &amp;#8216;I love you&amp;#8217; to, &amp;#8216;Nope, never gonna&amp;#8217; happen&amp;#8217;.  Felt like I missed a whole ficlet in tehre somewhere.&lt;/p&gt;</content>
