I woke up the next day smiling. I couldn't wait to see Stephen again tonight, even if we were babysitting. But something felt wrong. I suddenly realized what it was and rolled over to look at the clock. 7:57. Oh crap. I hurried out of bed and skipping the shower, threw on the nearest clean clothes, ran a brush through my hair, brushed my teeth, grabbed a granola bar, and ran out the door to school, a couple blocks away. The halls were empty, I was really late. I ran to my first period class, which happened to be on the other side of the building, and ran straight into someone walking the opposite way.
