<title>Comments on 'Winners by the Numbers'</title>
<subtitle>Oh for goodness' sake! Don't you know that most of you are supposed to totally biff the challenge and let one person stand out as the obvious winner? There's no way to subjectively choose a winner, so I'll have to use numbers.

20 entries, nice and even. So let's eliminate the odds.

That didn't help much. Let's add the remaining designation numbers and take the average.

11. Well, there's a paradox. I already eliminated #11.

But wait, K is the 11th letter.

Only 3 entries have K in the title and author's name. And they are all ficlets I was strongly considering in the winner's pool. Aha! Therefore, the winners are as follows.

Making it Count by John Perkins: Really a great, stand-alone, intense story with a surprise ending.

Ask the Wonderball by Eckhouse: I hate to award winnership when it's already featured and sequeled, but it was a darn good example of how ominous a number can be.

In the Dark by Mistress Elsha Hawk: Loved it, very emotional, and I've seen a newly blind person do this.</subtitle>
