  <title>Comments on 'The Feinting Doll'</title>
<subtitle>A dance, when widely considered a desirable social event, is a wonderful thing. Any eligible lady or gentleman wishing to see or be seen is presented with a golden opportunity. Alternately, the expectable concentration of society's elite presents other possibilities as well.

Thus, with much surprise, Horrace, faithful butler to de Grave opened his master's front door to an ashen faced young lady with the most startling red hair. She made as if to speak, but still more color drained from her soft cheeks. To the left, to the right, and gently forward she fell.

Arms sturdy from a lifetime of work caught the young woman and transported her to the setee as if she were a doll. A delicate dress, fancifully curled hair, and an unmistakeable sheen to the eyes all combined to highlight her doll-like appearance. So sweet, so innocent, yet so deceiving.

As Horrace rushed to the kitchen, Betty Hughley's keen eyes took in the room. She grinned slyly and thought, &amp;quot;_Now, where could he have hidden it?_&amp;quot;</subtitle>
