“Wait! Jessica!” Stephen yelled but she kept walking. He cut off her path and she finally stopped. “Stephen, move.” she whispered. “Wait! What do you mean? What about all those days we hung out?” “Stephen listen, we are just friends. Please, settle for that.” She walked around him, not waiting for a reply. Jessica headed to the girls’ bathroom and locked herself into a stall. Then she heard two girls talking by the sinks. “I heard he was with her to do _it_.” the first girl said. “Yeah, I bet James will get kicked out anyway. I heard they found pot in his locker.” the other girl replied. “I feel bad though; Jess probably didn’t know his record.” “What record?” Either these girls didn’t care who was in the bathroom or they wanted all ears to hear. “One with break-ins, drug issues and other stuff.” “God, so he really is the bad boy of the school.” “Uh huh.” The conversation ended as the two girls walked out but Jessica was still thinking.
