cainegreene's Stories

Transplanted to Florida from the crazy northeast. Always loved writing and hid behind doors when I was young and despondent. Read many interesting ficlet profiles and after years of marriage, children, coaching, office work and politics I have come to the conclusion that writing and life are similar.

"Be content with what you have, rejoice in the way things are. When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you. " ~*Lao Tzu*
                                 OR
"Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven." ~*Jesus*

My first entry into a ficlet series *Stangurdwood* http://ficlets.com/stories/9408
which is still going strong thanks to *m8ryx* and the original *rickyDan* series http://ficlets.com/stories/9338

My particular favorite venture into vampirism where clerics kick vamp butt the *Brother Nikolai* series:
http://ficlets.com/stories/9363

My Bud Ighnot's cool Sci-Fi *Event Horizon*
http://ficlets.com/stories/10655

Then there's m8ryx cool sci-fi *The Future*
http://ficlets.com/stories/9186

For the truly deep:

*Love* is like the *Ocean*
   it *Rises* and *Falls*
But is always *there*

Nightwalkers bounced up and down with each bite much like bobbers. A low chanting “Burrgarz” began to well up from what was left of their vocal cords.

Bringz me zee heartz and brainz! she commanded through the hive mind.

The Tyson drone stopped his feeding frenzy and removed the requested delicacies and placed them on what was left of her clothing.

A Nightwalker emerged from the bobble headed mass toward Tyson. As he approached, the blood drenched Tyson lifted the delicacies over his head like a sacrificial offering.

“Burrgarz. Burrgarz. Burrgarz.” the drones intoned.

“She will be pleased.” said drone leader 88 as he received the gifts. With great restraint he carried them to his Queen. Oh how he wanted to eat these savory morsels.

He stopped and sniffed the air. He looked toward the tree a human was there. As one the Nightwalkers stopped their inhuman chant and focused on the tree. “ BURRGARZ !“

88 continued on while the Tyson drone ate and the swarm attacked.

Bright shiny verdant leaves began to sprout all over his branches. As the leaves spread open the sunlight energized them. It was as if he had thousands of little batteries sending electrical impulses throughout his being.

Lugus stepped into the meadow and could feel the vibrant energies all around him. He stood and gazed over the meadow. He controled his breathing, slow deep breaths, listeing to his heart and then through the ground and outward. The Ash! You are new little one. When where you begotten?

Dan heard him or rather felt him and his thoughts. He tried to speak but had no lips! Help Me! his thoughts screamed.

The druid scanned further and found the Dyrad. He came out of his trance saw the creature What have you done?

Music was only on Vinyl records 33, 45 and 78. Dad built his own turntable, speaker cabinet and tube amplifier. With that corner speaker, a cassette player and a ten watt tube amp to blow away my dorm buddies cool Marantz stereo. Amazing the power I could get out of a 12” woofer and horn tweeter. Now we have ipods and iceKUBE IT-20 speakers.

Phones were rotary dialed and plugged into the wall talked to my girlfriend on a 15’ extension so I could have privacy. Wireless extension phones were awesome but now we have cell phones. Who would have thought back then that I could walk downtown while talking to my girl the whole time?

Evolution and adaptation keep me from being the dinosaur I could be. Today I can’t live without broadband, MP3 players and my Xbox360. I maybe slow but even the old coot could get into Pokemon back in the day. Grow young as you age.

“Oh my dear newborn junkie blossom have you forgotten the special bubble tea we made just for you!” again the voice flowed slowly out the door. Sort of a whisper gaining volume as it enveloped her.

Maybe it was more of a metamorphosis, he could not tell from beneath the falling Stangurd river. Yet this is where he found solitude from nature, the Yewmans and the magic, it had led him to this place because of the silence.

Yes, the constant roar of the falls has drowned the constant murmur of ancient darkness thought Lugus.

Like all druids he knew that the darkness was not to be feared but rather embraced, a ring of pure silver circumventing both light and dark neither having dominance but infinitely coexisting in harmony.

Why do we always struggle then? he sighed.

He emerged from behind the falls to the ledge that wound up the side of the great cliffs. His multi brown hued hooded cloak flapping in the wind never getting wet made him look ominous as he stood atop the falls. Toward the east he went while the sun painted the clouds a dizzying array of colors.

“Whoa! Where the hell am I?” Dan nervously scanned the cave. Yellow green luminescent lichen grew on the ceiling bathing the cave in an eerie greenish light. The torch added an orange hue and a smoky haze. A bright red flat toadstool was off to the right with a large pitcher plant and a wooden bowl. Next to the toadstool was a smaller round orange one and sitting upon it was a creature.
