Tom leaned back in his chair. “Why must I wait?”

“Stay with your uncle,” Jane pleaded. Tom shook his head in disgust. “I know it will be hard to abide by him, but you must! Give half to your family and save the rest in secret. I shall write my books and save the proceeds. When we have enough, then we can be together. Can you do that?” She held his quivering hand in both of hers.

“It will indeed a long time before we can marry.”

“I am willing if you, Mr. Lefroy, feel the same.” She gave him a smile of comfort, hoping he would return it, and indeed he did.

They returned to Hampshire before parting. Of course both had the unfortunate pleasure of facing aristocratic scorn, most notably Tom by his uncle and Jane by Lady Gresham. However, both found some comfort in their own families.

Tom became a successful lawyer and inherited his uncle’s properties. Soon afterward, he and Jane were wed. They moved to Ireland, where Tom was appointed Lord Chief Justice. In time, two daughters were born, Elizabeth and Emma.

They stared at each other in the pub, his eyes piercing her soul. “Jane… Jane, don’t do this to me.” She couldn’t look at his face without tears filling her eyes.

Tom continued. “Jane, my mother married my father in the same manner. They are happy together. They just needed a little bit of money. My brothers and sisters can help them out. My parents would rather me marry for love than for money!” Mr. Lefroy realized that he had raised his voice so loud that others were listening with interest for new gossip.

He sat silent, looking at Miss Austen who was still gazing out the window, only now her cheek shone with tears. Mr. Lefroy took the girl’s hand and said her name softly. “Jane…”

Miss Austen slowly turned to face his piercing blue eyes. “You said that you depend on me,” he whispered. “I depend on you and you alone. I do not wish to know a life without your face and your love.” Miss Austen blushed deeply. She realized that he would do anything in the world for her.

“Then… will you wait?” she asked.

Smiles crosses our faces as we lay our heads against the couch. His brown eyes staring into mine. We don’t dare look away. Then the hour chimes and its time to go. Oh, how I long for the world to stand still. Just long enough to stay content, though I know I can never be. Each time it gets harder and harder to leave. Please know that my frail attempts to escape from you is just a game, how could I ever want to leave. I have such happiness just being with you. And I hate when I have to get in your car, cause then I know our time is short. Just let me enjoy it while I can.

The night is filled with happiness, with hints of hyperness in between.
From the first time I met her I didn’t think that she would ever do this sort of thing with me. Seeing this once small, gothic girl, now laughing and wearing bright colours fills me with joy.
If I had never met her, I wouldn’t be so happy. I wouldn’t have ever ventured out of my box. I wouldn’t have found the joy in art that I have now. Such similarities, yet exact opposites. Ying and Yang, together and never apart.
As the years go by, we will go our seperate ways to find our dreams and live our lives, but at heart together forever we shall be. A promise made with a drop of blood, you and I redefine “ever”
