“Let me guess what happened next.” Katara said dryly. “When you pulled off the clump of fur it pulled fur that was still connected to the bear. The bear then got angry and started to chase you. Right?”
Sokka nodded.
“In the morning we’ll head back to camp.” Katara decided.

“Oh!” Katara said as they arrived at camp the next day. “This is a disaster. I had no idea a bear could do this much damage.”
“It can’t.” Therrin said grimly. In response to her siblings stares she pointed at the center of the camp where there were several dozen sets of tracks visible. “I’m pretty sure that our camp had visitors, and by the looks of it the remains of a large army.”

“I was tracking a small deer through the forest when I spotted what looked like a large brown hill. I was curious and wanted to know why nothing was growing on it.” Sokka explained as Katara and Therrin ate their soup. “ As I got closer I started to think how strange it actually was and how it seemed to be moving. At first I thought that my eyes were fooling me and that it couldn’t be moving but, as I got closer and I realized what it actually was I started to think that I should be backing away instead of walking closer. Still, I just couldn’t resist the chance of being able to tell my friends that I had seen a real live Guru Bear and Have a clump of fur for proof. So I went right to it’s side and tried to cutout a lump of fur, I didn’t realize how tangled all the fur was, then I pulled. I did manage to get the fur though.” He said as he held it for them to see.

On the way through camp Katara managed to grab the first-aid kit and Therrin chose to swerve towards her pack full of food. The three ran and ran and ran. Keeping together they swerved into the forest in hopes that the trees would slow down their pursuer. The bear was slowed. They weren’t. Therrin quickly led them to a straight and narrow path through the forest that was too small for the bear. It wasn’t too long before the forest became denser and the bear was forced to stop. After running another ten or fifteen minutes they stopped and, knowing that they had left the bear far, far behind, set up camp for the night. As the sun started to set and Therrin began to cook a quick supper Katara started tending to everyone’s various wounds. She started with the most serious ones (Sokka’s twisted ankle and the large cut in Therrin’s side) then worked her way down.
“So,” Katara said when the last of the wounds had been tended to. “Would you please be so kind as to explain why that bear was chasing you?”

A sword could only give it the equivalent pain of a paper cut and an arrow would simply get stuck in its fur, it wouldn’t even touch the bear’s skin!

“Someone’s coming!” Katara whispered silently but urgently as she drew her bow. Therrin had already drawn her sword and grabbed her shield, holding both at ready, before the bushes began to shake. Katara sensed the movement and, knowing that Therrin could handle as many as five attackers at a time, searched the surrounding woods for signs of an ambush, just incase this noisy pest was simply a distraction. Finding none she turned towards the sound while listening for any odd noises in the forest behind her.
As she watched, Sokka appeared, running as fast as he could, followed by an adult Gulu Bear. Katara had heard of Gulu Bears before but she had never seen one. Until now she had always dismissed the many tales told by travelers of Gulu Bears as tall as two story buildings. Now, however, she found herself believing every word of it.

Like food.” It took a lot of effort not to smile. “Also,” She continued. “There are rumors of our enemies preparing to invade from the south. Supposedly they’re going to mount several smaller attacks all along the border simultaneously in hopes of getting through. If they manage to break through our defenses then we expect them to continue through the province until they come to one of our fortified towns. They’ll be able to make that into a stronghold while they wait for reinforcements.”

Back at camp Katara was looking for any edible plants as well as a large amount of certain useful herbs while Sokka was off hunting and playing with his boomerang.
“Who’s there?” She suddenly whispered. Then, in one quick smooth motion, she had loaded her bow and was on her feet aiming into the forest where she could sense there was someone hiding. She started slowly backing up but she never moved her eyes or her bow away from the forest. Making her way towards the safety of the waterfront seemed to be the most logical course of action.
Then, suddenly, someone burst into the clearing. It was Therrin.
“Hey there, little sister.” Therrin called to Katara. Then, with a glance at her sister’s drawn bow she asked “Is this how you always welcome visitors? Or do you only give this honor to those carrying food?”
Katara grudgingly lowered the bow and slipped the arrow back in its quiver.
“So,” Katara said calmly. “I guess dad sent you to spy on us again.”

They go up a tree and vanish. Definitely Therrin. She likely jumped from tree to tree for a while before she started walking again. O well,” She sighed. “Let’s get back to camp.”
From a nearby hill Therrin watched with a satisfied smirk as the two headed back to camp. One more point for her. Current score 52 for her, 50 for Katara and 2 for Sokka.

Katara had hoped to catch Therrin off guard and then force her to help building a shelter (they had forgotten the tent as well,) but she knew that her older sister would never be caught well she was on full alert.
“DID YOU FIND ANYTHING ?” Someone called loudly.
“No, Sokka.” She answered wearily. Her older brother might be a nice and all but he had the worst sense of timing. Sokka was slightly taller than average and slightly on the skinny side but, unlike his sisters, he was pretty loud and his sense of humor was horrendous.

They always picked a good camping spot and they always did something wrong as well. Last year they fell in the lake with their packs on and ruined all of the food. The year before that they decided that it would be a good idea if they explored a cave without a flashlight. The list is endless. This year they forgot to pack food altogether. You’d think they would at least remember to pack some snacks! Therrin was jerked back to her senses as she realized that the shouting had stopped. She had better move quickly.
