His eyes were the color of flames licking wood in a camp fire, a deep orangey red that set them on fire in his too white face. I could not look away, but I knew that I had to or be consumed by something so dark and so terrible that my sanity would not be able to survive. Some unknown strength within me helped me to gradually pull my eyes down, down and away from that beautiful awful face, a face that could devour you and make you his. My limbs felt weak and a silent scream echoed in my mind as I did the unthinkable. I pulled back my long blue-black hair and exposed my neck to his gaze and surrendered myself to fate. He was taken aback and stone cold hands grabbed me by my shoulders. A small gasp escaped my lips and I melted as hot wax poured over a flame.
“You would do that for me?” he cried.
“Yes, yes, willingly, not forcibly, I give myself to you.”
“No,” he cried, half crazed with need.
“Take me, take me now,” I screamed. “I want to be like you, I want to never die, to always be by your side!”

“Oh My Gosh, do you see that outfit? Sheryl, I just have to have that outfit!” Tiffany made a quick u-turn on the sidewalk in front of Sax. Cassandra was goggling at the turmoil her friend was causing and followed her like a lost puppy. They entered the store and Tiff made a bee-line to the mannequin wearing her next outfit. “Isn’t it to die for?” asked Tiff. She quickly purchased what she wanted with Daddy’s plastic and escorted Cass and Sheryl out the door. “I can’t wait for Saturday’s luncheon with my mom’s friends. She will flip out when I walk in the door wearing this!” “Why are you in such a hurry Tiff, we have another hour before anyone misses us from school?” Tiff did not see the truck careening towards her when she stepped out into the street. “Come on,” yelled Tiff looking back over her shoulder and the truck hit her broadside as he tried to swerve to miss her. Cass had pulled back from Tiff, a move that saved her life. “Wow, I guess that outfit really was to die for,” exclaimed Sheryl.

Not Alone Anymore

I was helpless, no one to call for, no one to hear me if I did call out. I flicked my flashlight over what appeared to be an entire pack. Some of the wolves were snarling and some had their teeth bared. I was mesmerized by one in particular. His eyes cut through me and seemed to see into my very soul. I moved bit by bit, laid down the flashlight and did what some primordial instinct prompted me to do. I lowered my eyes and slowly, slowly lay down and brought my feet up into a fetal position. I rolled over onto my back, holding my body as relaxed as I could. I kept my eyes downcast and waited. What I assumed to be the leader snarled and growled. The other wolves hung back, I could only feel his presence near me. He growled a warning, deep in his throat and I closed my eyes, praying that I would not be torn from limb to limb and eaten alive. If there be any mercy at all, let me die with the first bite. He snapped at my hair and my body tensed. He sniffed at my ear and a shivering giggle escaped me. I’m doomed!
