xbluxmoonx's Stories

I love to write. What else is there to say?
fictionpress.com/~xbluxmoonx for more of my work.
I'm trying to publish some of my work, so I'm taking down a few pieces of poetry I've written in hopes that I could send them to a poetry publication market.

She had to leave. Things were no longer what they really were anymore. She saw things no one else did, things that no one else was supposed to see.

How could she cope with them? They hovered in the shadows, eyes gleaming, teeth bared, drawing darkness and light into their grip until their was nothing left.

They were nothing. They drew upon what existed to make them more powerful, and the most they could do was to take a human.

She fought hard for her friends, her family. But they were gone. The entire world was crumbling. And now, it was just him left. Nothing else mattered, right? As long as she had him- she had to have him with her. Without him, well, life wouldn’t be the same.

There would be no point to be alive. Yet, they drew closer, more daunting, more powerful.

“Get the door,” she mumbled to herself in a daze. They were outside. The rickety house wouldn’t hold them away for long. The blessed chalk powder and flashlights in every corner wouldn’t last forever.

No, they were coming.

There was a world beyond this one. There was a place where life never was expected to take a turn. It only had two colors: black and white. It was a small world- no life, no meaning, nothing. In that world there was no hope.
People were routine, the same, but ubiquitous still. Their life was dull, full of only the same annoyances, the same purpose for each human.
Were they expected to learn, to share, to live, to love? No.
And what of this world? This world has so many colors- so many people, so many thoughts, and risks. Life is complicated, harsh, different every day. Routine is just a word with a blank meaning. No, there is no routine.
Do you step in the same, exact place twice? Do you greet the same person in the same manner without a different thought in your head, a different intention, a different hope or desire running through your head?
Yeah, our world has color- our world has fear, envy, desire, hope, life, love.
Every day fades into another, bringing something we have never experienced before.

Lightning struck; her eyes glinted and her ears snapped back, ready for the thunderous noise she knew would soon come.

She quickly scampered down the sidewalk, the plastic wrappers and soda cans littering the way. Her heart raced just as a four-wheel automobile raced by, sending rainwater splashing in her face and wetting her sleek fur. She whimpered, her claws drawing out as she found a small grove in the underbrush.

Shelter..
Her paws dug into the soft soil. Small droplets of water dipped her whiskers slightly before releasing the long, white tendrils and falling to the dirt.

She blinked, her eyes ablaze with fright and amazement. She could hear her heart beat; her tail twitched. There was an itch on her back. She growled, but otherwise ignored it; closed her eyes and slept.

They were scum under his feet, things that didn’t belong in the world, things that should never be seen.
He was given tasks to accomplish, to take care of those that were helpless. He did well when all those required no emotion, no secret, no weakness.
Then, one day came when he was given a plea to slay the witch with the hair of snake heads and the beauty of a siren. He went, ready and full of pride. His sword ready, his body rushing with adrenaline. He had no knowledge of the witch’s powers.
The dragon that he had tamed so long ago was to his side, ready as much as he as he entered the lair, but surprised all the same to see the ceiling above merely a crater to allow in the sunlight.
There, in the darkness, stood the beautiful witch, her hair moving on its own accord. She hissed, calling him forward. He stepped in the light ready to face her, but only to widen his eyes in shock, as his own being turned to stone.
