Good Luck in Liberty Junction

by SKermitgorf

For Cole Talbot good luck more then anything was his greatest asset. He wasn’t particularly adept as a gunfighter. He wasn’t legendary for his skills with a pistol. Yet somehow he wound up as Marshall of Liberty Junction. Jest after they previous marshall got hisself killed.

Marshall Talbot wasn’t lucky in love nor did he fair any better in a game of poker.

What he did have was me, his deputy, Willie Noble. Fastest gun in the wild west, if I do say so myself (and I often do).

Well, Cole Talbot was jest about the bestest man I ever did know. Forgive me fer being emotional while I tell ya this story.
He’d been Marshall fer about two years ina town that few outlaws could even find on a map, if they had a map, few folks do.

Anyways let me git to it, we was sitting down having us a drink at Annies Saloon when them two cavalry fellas waltzed on in. Annie politely greeted them soldiers, but they jest starred past her at Cole.

I said, “I got a bad feeling bout this Cole”.

I like the use of colloquial speech. It fits the story very well.

Big jump in style from the prequel, but still fun. And I’m all for colloquial and vernacular.
