One very bitter night, Captain Scalley Wag was manning a ship called The Volcutur was with his crew. They were sailing the Atlantic Ocean. The Captain was very determined to find new land. He was convinced there was some land not found by previous explorers south of America. So he gathered up some crew, got permission from the queen and went out to find this land he would soon occupy.

On the ship the food and water supply had quickly been divoured. Most of his crew had died of disease or starvation. Or they had drank the ocean water and got very sick and had to be tossed over board to stop the spread of disease.

The captain did not know what to do! If he turned back now it would cause teasing for the captain with disgrace. He dicided to keep going.

Two weeks later he stoped in the middle of the ocean. He saw something, something he could not make out…....LAND!!! He was filled with joy.

The crew had all mostly died. So Captain Scalley Wag knew that the landing was going to be hard.
