Ficlets

The raptor woke rapidly as piercing screams rolled through the jungle. He stirred, uncoiling from his shelter, his stomache now aching with hunger and anticipation of someone’s fresh kill.

He raced through the dense foilage, increasing his speed with every shriek.

He stopped, saliva now dribbling down his chin and neck to his heaving chest.

After a brief pause Stripetail burst through the clearing, talons and fangs ready to assure himself a part of the kill.
He stopped, never anticipated what he would see before him.

Two brontos! Bloodied but still appearing to put up a fight against three raptors, smaller and much younger than him.

Stripetail stopped, sensing something wrong.

Then the larger of the brontosaurs shot down his head with his sinewy neck and bludgened the light blue raptor with repeated blows, then lapped out blood and brains from the ruined skull.

Stripetail froze in confusion,they were fleeing the normally gentle brutes!
