2AM i look left and you’re sleeping there.
I smile and run my fingers through your hair.
I remember the night you cried until day,
I’m so very glad that you chose to stay.

I remember when you wanted to go,
I asked you to stay and you said no.
You said it’d be easier if you weren’t around,
You said you belonged 6 ft. underground.

I sat and listened to all you had to say,
but in the end i still asked you to stay.
I told you that life was too beautiful to miss,
That there were time’s in it better than this.

I told you that not all pain lasts forever.
I told you that staying would be the nobler endeavor.
I said there were things that you just have to do.
I said sometimes the only way out is the way through.

And at 2AM when i woke up to your face,
I was relieved to know you stayed in this place.
For though this world can be cold and cruel too,
It would be far worse without you.
