    ...ew. OK, this isn’t how I would have ended it. Has a certain amount of grim humour in it though, and the descriptions are very well written.

    (Small pedantic note: James’ son and brother were under the acid tank…)

    Meh – I could go back and change it, but for now we’ll just assume that the diabolic mastermind misspoke (he was a bit confused about the doors, saying “left door” twice when he apparently meant “left door” and “right door”).
    See, it’s a writer’s trick! Whenever you make a mistake, blame one of the characters in the story!

    Erm… it’s fiction. I’d like to think I’m a fairly pleasant person who says funny things, is usually generous, and spoils his cat.
    I hope I don’t sound defensive: it’s more that this is as good a time as any to point out that sustained creativity – art, if I’m not being too presumptuous – requires a degree of clinical detachment. Not all writing ought to be a cri de coeur or baring of one’s innermost soul.
    I hope this tale was as enjoyable as a loathsome yarn could be, more shouldn’t be read into it.

    There is something totally beautiful about this. I can’t really say what, and people probably think I’m crazy for saying it, but it’s true. Ok, for me it’s true. I love the blatant tossing away of the usual Happy Ending. Funny, cynical… Lovely.
