Thanks granny {challenge: mundane object}

by Blossom Ruoqen

“And this, is for you darling!” my grandma said, as she handed me the most battered quarter I had ever seen in my life. “Erm. Thanks grandma.” was the warmest thing I could muster. On my 15 B-day I could’ve at least gotten a cell phone.

I had had a bad day; which explains why I simply threw my grandma’s “gift” under my small homely bed. “Sweet dreams.” I muttered sarcastically to myself before falling asleep.

The forest was so dark and lonely. I saw a light approaching in the distance, as it drew nearer, I beheld a graceful yet powerful horse. Its sweeping mane was stark white like the rest of it, and contrasted with its golden eyes. These intelligent eyes conveyed a deep pain – I wanted to help this beautiful creature. The graceful horse gradually showed me an unreasonably battered quarter wedged painfully in his hoof. “Let me help.” I cooed, as I reached down. The radiant beast bowed his head in thanks and cantered into the now lustrously green forest

I woke up calmly and retrieved my battered treasure
