As I stood there, my heart beating faster, faster, my mind began forming totally irrational thoughts.

Think about it, Lisa. Noone else in your village would have yelled like that, or run away like that. Sphinxes are creatures of thought. Dragons are creatures of action.
No! I was born a sphinx!
Are you sure? You don’t know who your father is, do you?
What does that matter? He did nothing for me! All he did was give me a couple chromosomes!
But he did give you them, didn’t he?
The other part of my brain, the resistance, was silenced.
Quietly, I contemplated that arguement to the cries of the dragon tribe.
