Just A Peek

The Doctor From Who-ville slid thru the newly opened doorway in the strange blue box. Tipping his head out, he asked: “You’re sure you don’t want just a peek?”

Sarah’s immediate answer was no, as any person of sound mind should reply, but a series of weird sounds emitted from within the strange blue box: whistles blowing, steam sizzling, gadgets bleating, and so forth. She relented to the curious side of her personality, merely stealing the slightest of glances.

The interior was a wonderous marvel, a palatial-sized industrial revolution unto itself; gears grinding, wheels turning, lights flashing, and — it seemed — the interior was larger than the exterior.

“Oh,” Sarah swooned, her mind dizzy with the countless impossible thoughts these sights invoked. With a twitch, she fainted.

Her head was a miasma of confusion. She reopened her eyes, discovering that The Doctor From Who-ville stood over her.

“Don’t move,” he insisted, “only one of your hearts is beating.”

“Okay,” she groggily replied. “Wha… What?”
