Snap, Crackle, Blaze: A Challenge is Met

by MRay

Snap left Mary and continued on to his class. It was boring as usual but what could he do? He did his best to stay awake until it was over.

After school ended he walked to the corner grocery store that was also a gas station. While he was there a man walked in and asked for directions from the store clerk.

“I’m looking for the Schmeister-Hausen residence,” said the man to the store clerk. “Do you know where they live?”

“Not a clue,” Snap overheard the clerk say. The man looked disappointed but took time to buy a soft drink before returning to his car. Snap followed the man outside.

“Hey, mister, I know where the Schmeister-Hausen’s live,” Snap said. “I’ve been to their house.” Snap was now leaning on the man’s car while the man drank his soft drink.

“So, you know the Schmeister-Hausens?” the man asked.

“Yeah,” said Snap. “I used to deliver groceries to their house.”

“My name is Blaze, by the way. Blaze Ratchet.”

“Nice to meet you. You can call me Snap. Want me to show you the way?”

I wrote this ficlet to meet the challenge of Lone Writer: a crossover of characters. Nice idea.

Lone Writer’s Challenge: ”...write a crossover…using the characters from any of my ficlets and the characters from any of your ficlets. (

I brought together Snap, a character from Lone Writer and Blaze Ratcher, my character from my series “She Wore a Yellow Bow: A Blaze Ratchet Mystery.”
