The Thoughts and Hopes of Nervous Ballerina

by wytherwings

Doing a solo for the first time was nerve-racking for me. I remember being 5 years old, watching the older ballerinas doing their solos, and being amazed. I mean, to be able to dance like that, so freely and gracefully, in front of everyone? With everyone looking at you, and only you, it must be terrifying.

That seems like only yesterday. But now, 9 nine years later, I’m one of those girls. I’m the one with the beautiful costume and butterfly necklace and wings. And of course, my satin Grisko pointe shoes. Even I look beautiful, like a real ballerina. I’m actually wearing a tutu! And it’s pink! Thats so unlike me, I’m usually the one wearing jeans, a T-shirt, and chucks; the one with the grass stains on the knees of her tights in ballet class.

But today is totally my day, and I feel beautiful. I only hope that i can live up to my costume, and dance beautifully too.

For anyone I think you write well, and especially for a fourteen year old! Much props. I’m guessing it has something to do with how much you read. Keep it up. Good descriptions and thoughts on coming of age, I felt similarly growing up, looking up to the older Basketball players.

I wanted to be one of those, so close, had to quit for school. You wrote this with real emotion, something that is unusual anywere.

I wish I could be one of those too—ballet dancing is so beautiful, and I absolutely love doing it, although I would never have the nerve to do a solo. This is great writing, the longing for it and then finally being there. Awesome job!
