In The Beginning...

“Hello?” It was so bizarre hearing her voice coming from Tony’s lips. “Yes, this is she. Really? That’s so cool! Alright. Yes, I know where that is. I’ll be there in a few minutes.” He snapped her phone closed.

“Uh… Who was that?” Heather asked.

“Someone who should know better than to think you’d fall for the ‘you won a contest’ trick.”

“So, who was it?”

He sighed. How much could he tell her? He knew her well enough to know she wouldn’t let it go until she had her answers.

I could lie to her. He dismissed the thought almost as it formed. She wasn’t a full psychic. Hell, she was weak for an empath. But she was strong enough to smell a lie, even from someone like him.

The truth, then. She looked at him, waiting impatiently for an answer.

All of it.

“Okay, look. You’re going to want to sit down.” She opened her mouth, but before she could speak, he said, “No, trust me on this one.”

She sat down, never taking her eyes off him, waiting.

“It all began when your great grandfather summoned a demon…”
