Yeah, it finally happened.

My 100th ficlet.

And, as so many before me, I am going to issue a challenge. Really, I’m going to issue multiple challenges.

Why?

Because I’m indecisive, and because I can.

Here are your choices.

The Narcissistic Challenge (This is because I love me, not for you loving you.)
Sequel one of my ficlets. It’s as simple as that.

The Worst Ficlet Challenge
This requires a team effort. One team member must write the worst ficlet they can, then the other team member writes an amazing sequel or a rewrite of what they think the first team member intended to say (without asking).

The Gassy Challenge
Write a ficlet with the line “I’ve got gas!...Wait, now I don’t.” Why? Because I said so.

The ‘What A Twist!’ Challenge
Take one of my ficlets in a completely different direction with as little implausibility within the story as possible.

Sounds fun :) Quick question though, can the worst ficlet challenge be uncoordinated teamwork? For example, could I write the first part as a sequel to this and then let anyone sequel it? Or would you only want a coordinated team?

Coordinated, uncoordinated, it doesn’t matter, just someone HAS to make sure that the better ficlet is written. (And a “couple” will be credited with the win) Also, they can then switch roles and enter again.

Okay, entry #1 is done. I have, per the Narcissistic Challenge, written a sequel to one of your ficlets, one from way back. I tried for this one to stay in the same vein and tone of the original, which was hard, cause that meant writing as a girl. Um, do I get bonus points for that? Just checking. Ah…I’m not quite sure exactly. I think my definition of bad leaned toward “unreadable”
If you look up “Smiley-sun and the Nazi, A Retelling” in my ficlets, then look at what I wrote it from, that combination is pretty much what I’m going for.
Or look at the “Blocked” & “Blocked from my heart” things, they do basically the same thing.

I think “badness” is in the eye of the beholder. I modeled my bad ficlet after the worst ones I’ve seen on the site. To me, a ficlet is bad if it includes one or more of the following:
Atrocious spelling, grammar, or punctuation; text-message brevity with character substitutions; incoherent ramblings about juvenile things; celebrity worship or other irrational exuberance; confusion of tenses; and pleading for sequels, with chain-message promises.
That’s just me, venting. It was cathartic. ;-)

Ummm, I kind of liked the original Baby Smiley-sun and the Nazi (http://ficlets.com/stories/9064). You and I even had a comments-debate about the merits (or lack of) of that particular ficlet.
