Out Of the Shadows & Fog {Vampire Challenge}

The mangy gray dog came out of the fog with stealth.
I was startled at first and jumped back with trepidation.

The haggard hound approached slowly and I gasped when it changed form before my eyes.

“Good evening Charles,” the accented voice said, soothingly.

Before me stood an immaculately dressed man of indiscriminate age. He seemed to walk on the fog rather than through it.

“H.. how d.. do you know my name,” I stuttered.

“I know everything about you Charles Worthington IV,” the ghoulish figure laughed.

As he got closer to me he seemed to change his features again, he looked younger still than when he stood in the shadows and fog.

“What are your intentions Sir?,” I said , holding my walking stick up in an intimidating way.

“My intentions good sir, are to bring you into ecstasy as you have never before known,” he said as he bared his fanglike teeth.

He lunged at me, I tried in vain to beat him off with the wolf handled stick, to no avail.
I awoke in a dark, dank dungeon, not yet feeling ecstasy.

Interesting choice of shape -dog. I like the man being immaculately dressed, I picture vampires that way, aristocratic. And I love the last line! what a perfect ending!

Great job capturing that old school, gothic (in the old sense, not the new fashion-challenged, eyeliner over-indulging sense) style of the vampire legend.

Not your run-of-the-mill vampire story. I love the imagery, especially “the mangy gray dog” coming out of the fog.
