I can actually hear my heart beat in my ears. Its drumming blocking out all other sound. It seems so random that there is not even a rhythm to focus on calming it at this point.
Breath comes in jagged gasps. Excitement masquerading as nervousness as I jump in the car and start it up. The thrill of the hunt has taken over.
My hands shake as I prepare to venture on this quest I have put off for way to long for this is what makes it a game. This is my least favorite and favorite thing to do because I never know what to expect.
Will there be crowds? Will there be long lines? Will there be anything left? Will I find anything I may be looking for and didn’t know I was looking for it?
Bonus points for finishing early in the day. Level up for avoiding the inevitable hostile shoppers. Power up with a shot of caffeine.
I know I will come home the winner because the last minute Christmas shopping will be done. I will have every name checked from my list and a big smiley face drawn at the bottom.
