I didn’t really believe in all that.
I know that’s what they all say isn’t it? “Oh I never knew!”
But it’s true.
He told me “I love you”
He told me “You are the most beautiful creature”
He told me “You drive me crazy”
He told me “I want you”
I never knew just how bad.
It was just a taste at first. I woke up with a note from him saying he left early for work. There was a scratch on my neck, just where it connects to my shoulder, where he always kissed me. I was pale and shaken that day, I took the day off from work. Lifting books didn’t sound fun in my weakened state.
But the more in love we fell the more weakened my state got, until, one gray morning, I felt the best I ever had. I was white as chalk and he wouldn’t let me outside. That’s when he told me.
“I’m a vampire” and as his fangs bared and I faded to unconsciousness I heard his sweet voice say:
“And now you are too”
