Ficlets

Leave, Leaving, Left

Half an hour, Mommy
You said that’s when we’d leave
But you and I are still here
And you’ve left me alone to greive

Don’t get me wrong, now
The people here are great
But their drunk and don’t care
Like you when your home late.

You yell for me to shut up
Slap me and walk away
But just a few steps later you tumble over
And on the ground you lay.

But finally you give in
“I’m really tired,” you claim
I hope you know what your doing
And that your driving has stayed the same.

So into the car we go
I’m as scared as scared can be
But you have trouble getting the car to work
You have to squint so you can see.

Alas we drive away
Hitting everything but the cement
If I survive this crazy ride
An angel God would have sent.

Mommy what’s happening
The car is spinning out of control
Dear lord let me die painlessly
I give to you my soul.

We crash into a tree
As I take my final breath
So this is what it feels like
To finally experience death.
