“Fine, then.” I said, I was getting pissed off now. “Then why even bother, Ashley? If you think I’m such a hopeless case, then go and don’t bother me about it. I have my own problems, ok? What do you want to do about it then? I’m sure you are perfectly happy with Jack and you must be pretty busy.
“I’m not trying to make you angry, I’m not looking for a fight. If you’re just going to announce everything thats wrong with me, just don’t do it. Unless you’re going to help with it, don’t talk to me about it.”
I looked into her eyes for the longest time. I almost had a notion to kiss her, I stopped myself just in time.
Uncomfortable silences were the worst.
“Ashley, I’m sorry.” I blurted out. “For everything.”
Ashley raised her eyebrows.
“I messed up, but I don’t regret it cause it looks like Jack is a better match for you even though I never want to admit it. Sorry for getting in so many fights, I guess I’m just stupid like that.”
Why did I say that?
Cause I meant it.
