Monty Hall Problem

by Richard Peck

there are 3 doors. behind 2 of them are goats, and behind the other is 1 hundred million dollars. You, get to choose a door.

say you chose door 1. before the host opens the door, he opens door 3. revealing a goat.

now, before he shows you what is behind the door you chose, he gives you the oportunity to switch.

do you switch?

This is the monty hall problem. for some reason, the best ansewer is to switch. what do you think, im lost on all this.

Wow… Still processing. This was… Ficlets gone crazy! I love it! It’s so GOOFBALL ! I adore. You get extra kudos for rhyming, something I can’t do intentionally and hate to do unintentionally.

After consulting wikipedia, I find that the contestant has a 2/3 chance of winning if he switches, instead of a 1/2 like we would assume. Mathematically, it is slightly better to switch. Personally, I would try to gauge the hosts’ tonality, and body language before deciding.
