Bartimaeus. It’s epic, heroic, and a powerful-sounding name. It mixes ancient with new. For Bart is a somewhat common modern name, whereas the suffix “maeus” has been used since ancient Egypt. The “i” is simply there to bring the two together, like a bridge connecting 2 peices of land.
That is my analysis, but the actual name is from a book series called The Bartimaeus Trilogy. Bartimaeus is a genie who overcomes many obstacles, and has a store of 5000 years of knowledge, as well as a store of smart comments. The books are great, and if anyone here likes Harry Potter, i recomend The Bartimaeus Trilogy. The first book is called The Amulet of Samarkand, and is, in my opinion, the best of the 3.
Bartimaeus was also the name of a blind man in the Bible, though i can’t remember exactly where to find it in the Bible. Bartimaeus called out to Jesus as he walked by with a crowd following him, and Jesus welcomed him.

    Actually, I thought the third one…and the second one were both really good. So, really, I’m not sure which is my favorite. The third one definitely has a really big climax towards the last half of the book. And more interesting backstory.

    And I’m sorry, but whenever someone says “If you like Harry Potter...” it jst makes me almost avoid the book. I like Harry Potter, but the phrase is just so overused and generalized. Ok. My rant is done. I did like the ficlet, by the way. =)

    I agree that the first one is best, but that’s probobly only because it’s the only one i own, so i’ve read it a lot more than the others. Very nice.

    The quick Jewish girl response of, I’ll just believe the New Testament thing because I’ve never read any of it…
    I’ll have to look into those books, never heard of them. But the name is pretty cool
