James’s large frightened eyes traveled slowly around the room. The creatures, some sitting on chairs, others reclining on a sofa, were all watching him intently. This, of course, was right before the engines failed, smoke started pouring out of the cabin, and the fabric of the balloon made a horrendous ripping sound, but I digress, as I was saying, James, being scared and all, not knowing what these creatures had in mind, I was of no help as I was cowering in the corner of the giant peach we flew here on, unseen by the hideous many eyed creatures.

“So you are the one zey call Jame’s,” the leader with the most eyes and two mouths was saying,” out of one of his mouths.

“Y.. yes I am James,” James said hesitantly.

The other creatures got up and walked around while their leader interrogated James. I watched hidden from sight, a hard task considering all those eyes.
We heard the engines stop on our giant peach, panic ensued, the creatures scattered in all directions.

James was still tied to a chair.

    “Ummm, creatures? A little help here?”
    Funny how you used two lines, so now the “watcher” will save him, or is this like one of those documentaries on Discovery where the crew may not interfere in the natural order of things :)

    James and the Giant Peach was a big part of my very young reading life. That and Big Friendly Giant or BFG as it is popularly known. I havn’t thought about those books in so long.

    Nice use of two lines, and a little allusion to the actual book in the first place. I like it.
