I'm Gonna Make Someone Proud.

by JohnnysGiRL

The small adobe houses were spaced far apart,
She longed for a house, not just a ratty old shopping cart.

There was always a constant worry and fear,
The shaking began when others came near.

She needed a house a place of her own,
No, not just a house, she needed a home.

Being homeless for six years, her clothes were ratty and torn,
Her fingernails were caked with dirt, her face always forelorn.

Her momma left her awhile back, and her dad was a drunk,
They both thought she was a little, worthless piece of junk.

“That’s all going to change.” she thought aloud,
I’m gonna get me a home, I am gonna make someone proud.

that was sweet and sad, and beautiful.
I love the line “No, not just a house, she needed a home.”
A home really does mean a lot more than a house.
